Hello to all my family and friends who continue to support me in my efforts to find a living kidney donor. It’s been several months since I first launched my Blog and I thought to share some updates with you very briefly. Firstly I am feeling ok generally speaking. I am not yet on dialysis but am being monitored monthly given my kidney function results. I am fortunate so far to not have severe kidney failure symptoms yet, despite being at the stage where dialysis is required for many patients. In preparation for a transplant I’m required to complete numerous tests – which I’m in the process of doing.
For those of you who have a glimmer of interest or curiosity about donating your kidney to me as a living donor, I firstly want to say thank you for whatever actual steps you may have begun to obtain information or knowledge.
For all who follow my journey, I have attached a link here to a fabulous video from Melanie, a kidney donor locally who describes her experience and process of coming to decide to donate. This is especially relevant to those who have a flicker of interest in live donation. I found this video on a website recently. I found Melanie to be very down to earth, practical and focusing on the essential aspects of the process from: making a decision; to preparing for surgery and meeting the recipient; to post operative recovery. She takes the unknowns and the myths out of the picture beautifully. I urge you to watch her!

My love and gratitude
